The Evaluations tool is in development to eventually replace the old Gradebook.
Even though the Gradebook is still available, the new Evaluations app is fully usable for Learning Paths. It has a unique function that allows you to grade learning goals and use grading scales.
Learning Goal Assessment
As learning paths can include different types of learning goals, you can assess all of them here. The goals that support instructor assessment provide the following possibilities:
|
There are separate view modes for an instructor and learner that can be chosen in the Preferences.
As an instructor, you can mark learning paths as completed or failed if the corresponding “manual review” setting is toggled. You can filter the list to show only this type of learning path.
Otherwise, you can view user progress in learning paths and grade learning goals that support grades according to the grading scale of the course they’re on.
Grading Scales
Evaluations work in conjunction with the new Grading scale system.
A default grading scale goes from 0 to 100. If you want to use a different scale, you can create one in the Grading tool. Then, in the Course Manager, they can be selected in the settings of the course you want to use it with. Afterward, instructors can grade courses and their content according to the new grading scale.
When creating a Grading scale, you should add a title, and you can also add a description.
Then, you should define the percentages for each grade you want on this grading scale. Here’s an example of the USA Standard Grading Scale setup that you can use.
